The Moon Cycle Basics

For thousands of years, humans have looked up to the sky and into the moon cycles for guidance. There are four main moon phases in every cycle and we can use them to guide us in all areas, specifically in our focus- to practice self-care!

The Moon cycles through these four phases every 7 days approximately, making the full lunar cycle about 29 days long. When there are two full months in one month, we call it a Blue Moon. There comes the famous quote “once in a blue moon”, because it’s an event that does not occur every month.

– Time for: This is the time to set intentions.

– Symbolizes: new beginnings

– Personal Use: Use this phase to set new goals and intentions. This is a wonderful time to begin a new project.

– Phase Order: The second phase of the lunar month.

– Time for: This is the time of growth.

– Symbolizes: Fertility

– Personal Use: This is where you can start to harness some momentum in your actions.

– Phase Order: The third phase of the lunar month.

– Time for: This is the time to be receptive.

– Symbolizes: Awareness

– Personal Use: Time to take in the light and create awareness into your emotions and body.

– Phase Order: The last phase of the lunar month.

– Time for: This is the time to rest.

– Symbolizes: Reflection

– Personal Use: Time to restore your energy, slow down and integrate all your experiences in order to prepare for the New Moon.

This Friday March 18, 2022 we have a Full Moon and I have saved a few of my favorite rituals to share with you in order to get you ready.

BEFORE THE FULL MOON: Ground Yourself. The time leading up to a Full Moon can often make people moody, sensitive, and fatigued. Tune Into Nature.

DURING THE FULL MOON: Try Meditating and Deep Breathing, bonus points for  journaling about the past few days/weeks. Don’t forget to clean your Physical Space as well, to make space for the new energy coming in.

AFTER THE FULL MOON: Give Thanks and wat A Healthy, Natural Meal to expand those energy fields.

The Chinese Astrological signs change on an annual basis, based on the cycles of the moon. Hence, their year starts with the first full moon.

I hope you find my explanation of the moon’s cycles and rituals helpful. When it comes down to it, we are all a part of the universe and we are all interconnected. When we can acknowledge this fact and work to align ourselves with the Universe’s natural cycles we can achieve higher vibrations and levels of awareness in ourselves and others.
